Dolly Parton’s Final Recording Is A Duet With Bono

Dolly Parton’s final recording is a duet with Bono on U2’s upcoming album, “Carnaval De Luz”. 

It’s a tender country song called “Torn”, and Bono said it will serve as the final track.

“When she got ill, she got out of her bed to sing this song.  And you can hear that.  And I can’t even listen to it now . . . She sang her heart out and I cannot believe that’s an 80-year-old woman.”

He initially asked Dolly to be part of a project inspired by Irish folk music.  But instead, she offered her song “Torn”, and Bono and Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid rewrote the lyrics around a mother who’s watching her family split apart.

Dolly recorded her vocals in June, and luckily she was able to hear the song before she passed and give her seal of approval. 

“Carnaval De Luz” comes out November 13th.
