Celebrity Status – Movies, SNL Is Back, And Swifties Break A Record!
October 13, 2023 9:49 amFor Friday, October 13th:
While Taylor Swift was being photographed at the Kansas City Chiefs game again, her fans were breaking the Cineplex record for movie ticket pre-sales, buying $6.2 million worth for her Eras Tour concert movie… and that’s just in Canada! Not that we’d expect anything less from Swifties. I mean, after all, they couldn’t all get tickets to the real thing. But would it still be a record if the tickets were regular price? Yeah, probably…
A few movies changed their release date because of Taylor’s movie, but if you’re looking for something different, ‘Anatomy of a Fall’ (which won the Palme d’Or at Cannes) is about a writer who stands accused of killing her husband… and horror movie ‘The Bell Keeper’ is about a team of documentary filmmakers who attempt to debunk an urban myth about a supernatural killer.
Meanwhile, Hollywood studios have broken off strike talks with the actors union, so the prospect of new movies down the road is not great.
On the small screen, the ‘Goosebumps’ series debut comes to Disney+ today…
Jada Pinkett-Smith‘s TV special ‘Jada’s Story’ is on NBC tonight…
And Saturday Night Live is back for its season 49 premiere with SNL alum Pete Davidson set to host, joined by musical guest Ice Spice.
And in other headlines, Bruce Willis is ‘not totally verbal’ as his condition progresses, according to his friend Glenn Gordon Caron, the creator of Moonlighting. He says “When you’re with him you know that he’s Bruce and you’re grateful that he’s there, but the joie de vivre is gone.”
