For Tuesday, February 20th:

Simu Liu hosted The People’s Choice Awards on Sunday night, and Barbie was up for several awards, winning most of them, including trophies for Ryan Gosling, Margot Robbie, America Ferrera, and for Movie of the Year and Comedy Movie of the Year. Billie Eilish‘s acting debut in “Swarm” won her The TV Performance of the Year.

Other winners included Adam Sandler with the People’s Icon Award and Lenny Kravitz with the Music Icon Award. Other awards went to Selena Gomez and Only Murders in the Building, Pedro Pascal and The Last of Us, Jimmy Fallon and Kelly Clarkson. On the music side of things, Taylor Swift won 4 times, Olivia Rodrigo won a couple of times and other winners included Beyoncé, Ice Spice and Shakira.

Meanwhile, Emma Stone is really picking up steam on the way to the Oscars, winning Best Actress for Poor Things at the BAFTA Film Awards. Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. both won for Oppenheimer, which also won for Best Film and Best Director for Christopher Nolan.

And ICYMI: Barbie and Oppenheimer lead this year’s SAG Award nominations with four each. On the TV side, the final season of HBO’s Succession scored five nominations, with other nominees being Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey from The Last of Us, Quinta Brunson of Abbott Elementary, and several stars from Ted Lasso.

At the movies, ‘Bob Marley: One Love’ sang its way to number one at the box office with $51 million since it’s debut last Wednesday, while Madame Web logged a record low for a Spider-verse debut with about half that amount in the same time frame. Since Madame Web is supposed to be clairvoyant, you think they would have seen that coming!
