Celebrity Status – SAG Winners, Box Office, And Greta Goes To Narnia
February 26, 2024 9:11 amFor Monday, February 26th:
At the SAG awards, ‘Oppenheimer’ dominated the stage, cementing its status as the frontrunner ahead of the Oscars on March 10th…. and some of the individual winners included Lily Gladstone for ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. for ‘Oppenheimer’, Da’Vine Joy Randolph was named best supporting actress for ‘The Holdovers.’
Also picking up trophies on the TV side, The Bear and The Last of Us, and Succession won in its final season. Also Ali Wong and Steven Yeun for Beef, Elizabeth Debicki for the Crown, Pedro Pascal won for the Last of Us, and Jason Sudeikis lost to Jeremy Allen White who won for The Bear, as did his costar Ayo Edebiri.
Another slow weekend at the box office… but ‘Bob Marley: One Love’ was stirring it up for another number one weekend, bringing in $13.5 million for top spot. The animated ‘Demon Slayer’ was second and Hilary Swank’s ‘Ordinary Angels’ came in third. And in it’s second weekend ‘Madame Web’ took in just $6 million. Probably no need to plan for a sequel.
Meanwhile, Greta Gerwig is set to make two films based on C.S. Lewis’ Narnia novels for Netflix. In fact, she’s had this planned since before she started working on the Barbie movie. Netflix has no date for the movies yet, but Gerwig hopes to cover all seven novels in the two movies.
And Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were put on blast by PETA for going to the Sydney Zoo. The organization said it hopes that next time Taylor and Travis want to see wild animals, they’ll spend their time and money at a true sanctuary.
