Celebrity Status – Box Office, Film Festivals, And Ryan’s Wheel Debut
September 9, 2024 9:06 amFor Monday, September 9th:
The juice is loose once again! Michael Keaton returns as Beetlejuice, and Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder also reprised their roles for ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ as it jolted the box office with a $110 million opening weekend, the third-best opening weekend of the year. The original “Beetlejuice” earned a mere $8 million in its opening weekend in 1988. Even adjusted for inflation, the sequel blows that away.
The stars were out in Toronto over the weekend for the Toronto International Film Festival. Some sharp internet watchers saw video of Jennifer Lopez talking to her ‘Unstoppable’ co-star Bobby Cannavale, and they believe she said “I’m a bad picker” in reference to the shambles that is her love life.
Nicole Kidman‘s mother passed away on the weekend. Nicole had to leave the Venice Film Festival on Saturday shortly after arriving and before accepting her best actress win for her new film “Babygirl”... Janelle Kidman was 84.
The NFL season has just begun but the NFL has already announced Kendrick Lamar as the Super Bowl Half Time performer for this coming February.
And tonight for your game show watching pleasure, Jeopardy has the season premiere with Ken Jennings as the sole host… and on Wheel of Fortune, Ryan Seacrest makes his hosting debut.
