Celebrity Status – Billboard Nominees, DWTS, And Shawn Mendes In TO

Dancing With the Stars has its three-hour finale tonight. The final five include two Olympic athletes, a Super Bowl champ, a Bachelor and an actress, all competing for the Len Goodman Mirror Ball trophy. That starts at 8 p.m. on ABC and streaming on Disney+

Drake announced he will kick off his tour of Australia over the weekend and it starts on the same day that his supposed rival Kendrick Lamar performs at the Super Bowl Half Time show. Intentional? No idea… and does it really matter? They’ll be on opposite sides of the world, each doing their own thing.

Meanwhile, Katy Perry is bringing The Lifetimes Tour to Canada next year in support of her latest album, 143, which was released in September. Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena is where we can see her on August 5th. Some of the special ticket pre-sales for that show start tomorrow at 10 am.

2024 Billboard Music Awards nominees were announced yesterday with Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen up for top artist, among others. And Taylor and Drake are facing off once more to compete for the most all-time BBMA wins; the two tied last year with a career total of 39 awards each. Similar to last year’s ceremony, it will be an online-only event on various streaming services, December 12th.

And Shawn Mendes triumphantly returned to Toronto’s Massey Hall last night with lots of emotion, and lots of family and friends in attendance. He had canceled his 2022 world tour just a few shows in to take care of his mental health, but he’s back! His latest album, Shawn, came out November 15th.
