
Celebrity Status – BFTA Noms, A Lawsuit, And Another Big Celeb Donation
January 16, 2025 11:15 amDrake is suing Universal Music for defamation in relation to that Kendrick Lamar diss track ’Not Like Us.’ He alleges UMG published and promoted the track even though it included false pedophilia allegations against him. Drake’s lawyers said the lawsuit seeks to hold UMG accountable for knowingly promoting false and defamatory allegations. Both artists have contracts with Universal Music.
The 2025 BAFTA nominations are out. ‘Conclave’ leads the pack with 12 nods and other notables include the movie “Emilia Pérez” and “Wicked” plus individual nominations for Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, and Demi Moore along with Sebastian Stan for playing Donald Trump. The BAFTAs are often seen as an important Oscars predictor.
Add Leonardo DiCaprio‘s name to the growing list of celebs that are giving monetary aid to LA. He said the donation would be in conjunction with his organization Re:wild’s Rapid Response Program to aid both immediate needs through the fire departments, humane society and more, and also for long-term recovery.
‘SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night’ is a four-part docuseries celebrating SNL’s 50th anniversary. It features plenty of SNL alumni and it’s streaming on Peacock starting today.
