Celebrity Status – Golden Globes, Box Office, And Zendaya’s Ring Finger

For Monday, January 6th:

At the Golden Globes last night, Adrian Brody won​ Best Actor for “The Brutalist” and the film won Best Motion Picture, Drama. In his speech after winning best director, Brady Corbet also acknowledged Aubrey Plaza, who missed the ceremony due to the sudden death of her husband, film maker Jeff Baen​a​, over the weekend, from what police ​are saying was suicide.

Other winners include Demi Moore as Best Actress for “The Substance,” Sebastian Stan as Supporting Actor in “A Different Man” and the Selena Gomez musical “Emilia Perez” which picked up a few awards​, including ​Best ​Song and ​Best Supporting Actress for Zoe Saldana. The Globe for ​Cinematic and ​Box-office ​Achievement went to “Wicked.”

Nothing new in theatres over the weekend, but the King of the box office in its third weekend was “Mufasa: The Lion King” earning $23.8 million, according to studio estimates Sunday. Paramount’s “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” wasn’t far behind with more than $21 Million. And “Nosferatu” was in third. “Moana 2” and “Wicked” round out the top 5.

Michael J. Fox received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from president Joe Biden for his activism and contributions to Parkinson’s research. Other notable recipients included Hilary Clinton, Bono, Magic Johnson and conservationist Jane Goodall, along with Denzel Washington for his role as a national spokesman for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

And while Zendaya was once again ​killing it on the red carpet at The Golden Globes, the internet was all in a tizzy because they saw a big sparkly ring on her left hand ring finger. That said, she has been known to wear a ring on that finger, so it’s probably nothing. Or maybe she and Tom Holland *are* engaged…??
