Celebrity Status – Movies, Mike Myers, And RIP George
March 24, 2025 9:44 amFor Monday, March 24th:
“Snow White” opened in theaters with a sleepy $43 million in ticket sales, good enough for the top spot but well below Disney’s expectations. “Black Bag” starring Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender was second with just $4.4 million, and “Alto Knights,” a gangster film starring Robert De Niro in both lead roles, didn’t even make the top 5.
Conan O’Brien received The Mark Twain Prize for humour at last night’s Kennedy Center Honours. Previous winners include both Letterman and Leno, along with George Carlin, Whoopi Goldberg, Bill Murray and Dave Chappelle. The ceremony will be streamed on Netflix later this year.
In other headlines, sports legends and boxing fans paid tribute over the weekend to heavyweight icon George Foreman who passed away Friday at the age of 76.
Elbows up, Canada! Mike Myers has jumped on the Liberal political bandwagon with a fun ad that shows PM Mark Carney testing Meyers to prove his Canadian-ness.
And in case you weren’t feeling old today, the movie Pretty Woman turned 35 yesterday!
