Celebrity Status – SNL, Movies, And The Boss’ New Box Set

For Friday, April 4th:

At the movies… Like others before it, “A Minecraft Movie” centers on four misfits who enter a mysterious portal that pulls them into a strange land, this one is like Lego on steroids. It stars Jason Momoa and Jack Black, and it has Jennifer Coolidge being very Jennifer Coolidge. And like countless others before it, the movie is a quest to go home. It’s getting good reviews.

In “The Luckiest Man in America” Paul Walter Hauser plays the real-life ice cream truck driver who discovered a way to win as a contestant on the game show Press Your Luck. Walton Goggins, Maisie Williams and Johnny Knoxville also star.

And in “The Friend” Naomi Watts plays Iris, a New York author, and Bill Murray is her mentor Walter… but the real star of the movie is Bing, aka Apollo, a harlequin Great Dane.

At CinemaCon in Vegas there were more sneak peeks at movie trailers, including Julia Garner as Silver Surfer in ”The Fantastic Four: First Steps”… also Liam Neeson in a mini skirt in “Naked Gun: The New Version!” There’s also a “Meghan 2.0″ trailer, the first ”Avatar: Fire and Ash” footage, and Jeremy Allan White as Bruce Springsteen in ”Deliver Me from Nowhere.”

Elsewhere, the real Bruce Springsteen is set to release seven previously unreleased albums in a mammoth box set with 74 never-before-heard songs. ‘Tracks II: The Lost Albums’ will be available June 27th.

And on Saturday Night Live Jack Black will host with musical guests Elton John & Brandi Carlile, who have a new collab album out today. Also releasing a new album today?… Ed Sheeran (but he’s not on SNL.)
