Celebrity Status – SNL, Box Office, And A Bachelorette Wedding (sort Of)

For Monday, August 25th:

At the movies…with just $18 million in ticket sales, ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ took the North American box office by storm over the weekend. The Netflix release was just a special one-weekend theatrical sing-along event, and it seems like the movie industry isn’t really counting it, saying “Weapons” is in first place. It’s a couple million behind, however, and “Freakier Friday” stayed steady in third… or second place, depending on your perspective.

Jillian Harris is married! For anyone who has watched Love It or List It Canada, you will be familiar with Jillian, who tries to get people to love their home after her renos. What you might not know is that she was ‘The Bachelorette’ in Season 5. She accepted the proposal of contestant Ed Swiderski but they broke up the following year. A couple of years later she met her current partner and sometime contractor on the show, Justin Pasutto outside a bar,… and the two finally got married over the weekend at their farm in Kelowna, BC after nearly 9 years of engagement.

Lorne Michaels has confirmed that some SNL cast members will be leaving before season 51 gets underway, and rumour has it someone is coming back. No word on who these cast members are just yet. Season 51 of SNL debuts October 4th.

Good news and bad news for fans of Dexter… ‘Dexter: Original Sin’ has been ‘un-renewed’ (aka canceled) as Paramount opts out of a second season. That’s the bad news; the good news is that they are getting started on writing season two of ‘Dexter: Resurrection’
