Celebrity Status – VMAs, Movies, And Pam Anderson Wannabes

Are you a Pamela Anderson look-alike? Then the B.C. Lions are looking for you. It was at a B.C. Lions game in 1989 that Pamela Anderson was ‘discovered’, subsequently launching her career. The lookalike contest is being held on Sept. 12th and you must have a ticket to the game — not to mention a plane ticket to get there! And here’s my question… do you need to look like current Pamela Anderson? Or the way she looked when she was discovered?

At the movies, The Conjuring universe delivers ‘Last Rites’ to theatres, starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. Also in theaters, Dylan O’Brien stars alongside writer/director James Sweeney and Lauren Graham in ‘Twinless’ …and Orlando Bloom is a boxer who comes out of retirement for one last shot at glory in ‘The Cut.’

LL Cool J hosts the MTV VMAs this Sunday… Lady Gaga, Tate McRae, Alex Warren and Sabrina Carpenter are among the artists set to perform. When it comes to nominations, Gaga leads the pack with 12, Bruno Mars has 11, Kendrick Lamar with 10, and Sabrina Carpenter has 9. The rest of the list is a who’s who of pop music and crossover country. Mariah Carey will receive the Video Vanguard Award and also perform.

The seventh annual TIFF Tribute Awards this Sunday celebrate outstanding contributions to cinema. Idris Elba will receive the TIFF Tribute Award in Impact Media; Channing Tatum will be presented with the TIFF Tribute Performer Award while Canadian icon Catherine O’Hara will be honoured with the TIFF Norman Jewison Career Achievement Award.

In other headlines, Comedian Nate Bargatze is coming to London, and tickets are on sale today… but you may need to break out the piggy bank!
