For Wednesday, December 24th:

On Netflix today, Kate Winslet makes her directorial debut and stars in “Goodbye June” about a dysfunctional group of siblings who come together as their mom, played by Helen Mirren, nears the end of her life. The season finale of ‘Pluribus’ is on Apple TV today… and tomorrow, Netflix also has 3 more episodes of ‘Stranger Things’ arriving at 5pm

In theatres on Christmas Day, Timothée Chalamet stars in “Marty Supreme” as a top-notch table tennis player with a dream. Some predict an Oscar nomination for Chalamet. Gwyneth Paltrow also stars.

Hugh Jackman is Neil Diamond in “Song Sung Blue”…sort of. It’s the true story of a Milwaukee auto mechanic and his hairdresser wife played by Kate Hudson, who found success as a Neil Diamond tribute act.

And in “Anaconda”, Jack Black and Paul Rudd are friends who get a crew together to do a remake of their favourite movie. But of course life soon imitates art when a gigantic anaconda with a thirst for blood starts hunting them down.

In other headlines, British authorities have charged comedian Russell Brand with two new counts of sexual assault, in addition to the five counts he was already facing.

And Barbra Streisand shared an effusive shout-out to Ariana Grande after her “SNL” appearance last weekend. Ariana said ‘Made my day, my year, my life!’
