Celebrity Status – JUNOs, The BAFTAs And The Simpsons, Oh My!
January 28, 2026 9:58 amFor Wednesday, January 28th:
Justin Bieber and Tate McRae lead this year’s Juno nominations with six each, marking a career high for both. Bieber is also up for four Grammys this Sunday in Los Angeles. Close behind with five Juno nominations is The Weeknd and Cameron Whitcomb. The show has already announced performances by Arkells, The Beaches, and more. The Junos broadcast will be March 29th from Hamilton.
Nominations for the BAFTAs, Britain’s equivalent of the Oscars, were announced yesterday. The politically charged action thriller “One Battle After Another” leads the pack with 14 nominations, including acting nods for five of its cast members. “Sinners” is close behind with 13 nominations, while “Hamnet” and “Marty Supreme” have 11 apiece.
The legal battle between Blake Lively and her It Ends With Us director and costar Justin Baldoni continues. Ryan Reynolds‘ rep is now coming to his defense, after Ryan’s texts about Baldoni were made public, saying “What husband wouldn’t support his wife and the mother of his children?”
In a season full of big name guest stars, The Simpsons has announced the all-star cast for its 800th episode. Quinta Brunson, Kevin Bacon, and Questlove will all guest-star, as the family travels to their hometown of Philadelphia. Cast members from The Pitt including Noah Wyle, will voice medical personnel and Boyz II Men will provide special music for the milestone episode.
And yesterday, “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert revealed the date of his final episode. He didn’t make the announcement on his own program, but instead he told Seth Meyers, host of “Late Night” on NBC, that his final show will be May 21st, saying “I’m not thrilled with it.”
