Celebrity Status – Oscar Noms, Star Search, And Another Honour For Taylor

The Oscar nominations were announced yesterday with Sinners, One Battle After Another, and Sentimental Value scoring major nods. Sinners broke an Oscars record earning 16 nods while Wicked: For Good was completely shut out. Individual nominees include Timothee Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael B. Jordan, Emma Stone, Kate Hudson and Jessie Buckley… and KPop Demon Hunters is up for Best Animated Feature and from that movie Golden is nominated for Best Song.

Meanwhile, this year’s inductees to the Songwriters Hall of Fame include Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of KISS, Kenny Loggins, Canada’s own Alanis Morissette and Taylor Swift. In fact, Taylor becomes the youngest woman ever to be inducted into the SHOF.

In theatres, ‘Mercy’ is set in the near future, where accused criminals go to court overseen by AI. Chris Pratt plays a detective accused of murder, and he has just 90 minutes to prove his innocence before facing the ultimate sentence.

On TV, fresh off her Golden Globe win for ‘One Battle After Another’, Teyana Taylor — who is also up for a supporting actress Oscar — hosts Saturday Night Live, with musical guest Geese.

And the talent competition Star Search is back on Netflix, with five weeks of live episodes, and judges Jelly Roll, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Chrissy Teigen

And if you’ve seen photos of William Shatner with cereal in strange places… EW has confirmed that Shatner will be starring in a Super Bowl ad for Kellogg’s Raisin Bran.
