Celebrity Status – Barbra, The Bear, Mike Myers And Hazel Mae

Austin Powers is getting an award! Sort of. Mike Myers has landed the Academy Icon Award, presented by the Canadian Screen Awards. The prize is presented to a Canadian individual or institution for their exceptional, ongoing contribution to the media industry. And The Gordon Sinclair Award for Broadcast Journalism goes to Hazel Mae, whom you may have seen on the Blue Jays broadcasts. They will be presented during Canadian Screen Week in Toronto May 27-31st.

On the red carpet at the premiere of her new Prime Video series ‘Scarpetta’, with Nicole Kidman, Jamie Lee Curtis seemed to confirm her recent vague social media post about the end of her other series. She told Access Hollywood that ‘The Bear’ will come to an end after season 5. No one else with the show has confirmed that, but season 5 has indeed finished filming. No release date just yet though.

If you’ve finished season 4 of Bridgerton, you may be wondering who will be the focus of season 5? Showrunner Jess Brownell confirmed that Eloise and Francesca will be the focuses of season 5 and 6 when she wore “E & F” embroidered on her jacket at the season 4 premiere. My money is on Eloise. But no word yet on when we will get season 5 in our eyeballs. Next year maybe?

John Leguizamo has joined the cast of Mike Flanagan’s untitled The Exorcist feature, which is promising a “fresh and bold” take on the demonic possession story. Leguizamo joins Scarlett Johansson, Jacobi Jupe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane as production gets underway next week.

Barbra Streisand is in talks to perform at this year’s Oscars as part of an In Memoriam tribute to Robert Redford. The Oscars are March 15th.
