March 22, 2023 10:56 amLOTR: THE RETURN OF THE KING EXTENDED EDITION WILL BE BACK IN THEATRES _ The extended edition of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is coming to theaters for a limited time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the film. The 2003 film, the third in the trilogy, won an Academy Award for Best Picture in 2004, as well as ten others that year.
… The Return of the King will be shown in theatres in the United States on Thursday, April 13, and Wednesday, April 19. It will also be shown in Canadian theatres on Thursday, April 20.
… Elijah Wood will do a special introduction about what the film and the world of Tolkien have meant to entertainment.
Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. The court was informed of the agreement during jury selection.
The suit revolved around an August 2018 recording session between plaintiff Tyler Armes, a member of Canadian rock band Down With Webster, and Austin Post, known as Post Malone. Armes said he co-wrote the keyboard chords and the guitar melody and had “significant input” on the bassline. Although the lyrics hadn’t been completed, he claimed all the instrumentation and vocal melodies in the song recorded that night are “note for note rhythmically and melodically identical” to the final version of the song.
GWYNETH PALTROW TRIAL BEGINS _ The trial has begun for a skiing accident involving Gwyneth Paltrow. Terry Sanderson accused Paltrow of skiing out of control and crashing into him while they were both skiing in Deer Valley Resort in Utah in 2016. Sanderson claims that Paltrow caused him serious injuries, including a brain injury, four broken ribs, and more. He also alleges that Paltrow and her ski instructor left the scene without getting him medical care. Paltrow filed a countersuit against Sanderson, claiming that he skied into her.
… Sanderson had initially sued Paltrow for $3.1 million dollars, but later amended his complaint and is now seeking more than $300,000 in damages. Paltrow is seeking $1 in damages, plus attorneys’ fees.
SMALL THINGS LIKE THESE: CILLIAN MURPHY TO STAR _ Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy has signed on for the upcoming film adaptation of Small Things Like These. The story is set in a small town during Christmas in 1985, where a father named Bill Furlong discovers dark secrets about the town’s church. The film is currently being shot in Ireland.
NEW STAR WARS MOVIE LOSES WRITERS DAMON LINDELOF AND JUSTIN BRITT-GIBSON _ The next Star Wars movie has lost its screenwriters. TheWrap reports that Damon Lindelof (Star Trek Into Darkness, World War Z) and Justin Britt-Gibson have left the untitled, unannounced project.
… If the project ends up getting made, it will be the first Star Wars feature film since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
TOM CAVANAGH TO HOST SHOW ON GAME SHOW NETWORK _ The star from Ed and The Flash will host Hey Yahoo!, a new show for the Game Show Network that will premiere early this summer. The half-hour game features two teams of three players which compete to guess what millions of people are searching for on Yahoo. Contestants are given the first half of a search, and then have to fill in the blank based on what they think America is searching for. For each correct answer, the dollar value of that answer is added to the team’s bank.
