Celebrity Status – Katy, Pink, Salt-N-Pepa And Sesame Street

For Tuesday, May 20th:

Katy Perry was back in Vegas over the weekend but just for one show. And while she is enjoying sold out shows on her Lifetimes tour, word broke this week that her Las Vegas residency — which ended in late 2023 — was such a “complete failure” that hotels don’t want her back. The three-year-long show, Katy Perry: PLAY, apparently bombed so badly that the hotel and casino actually lost money.

Pink’s husband and professional motocross racer, Carey Hart, was recently hospitalized after experiencing a “nasty” crash while practicing. He took a handlebar to the abdomen on an unintended dismount and severed his small intestine from his colon. In his Instagram post he thanked Pink for taking charge and apologized yet again for putting her through the ordeal.

Salt-N-Pepa have sued their record label, saying that Universal Music Group is violating copyright law by refusing to agree to turn over the rights to their master recordings. The original request was made in 2022. A provision of the copyright act allows artists who made deals at the beginning of their careers to terminate those agreements.

The streaming service formerly known as HBO Max became just Max and now will once again be HBO Max. Warner Bros. Discovery announced Wednesday that it will soon put the “HBO” back in the name, after two years — and much criticism — for dropping it.

N is for Netflix… It’s a “Sunny day” for Sesame Street. The show has managed to dodge cancellation, finding a new home at Netflix with season 56. Brand new episodes — as well as past seasons — will premiere later this year. New episodes will also air on PBS, debuting the same day as they launch on Netflix.
