This summer, enjoying a cold drink at the park is getting a whole lot easier in Ontario.
The province is expanding alcohol rules to allow beer, wine, and spirits in most areas of the Ontario Provincial Parks—including picnic spots and beaches. Until now, alcohol was only allowed at campsites.

The move is meant to enhance the park experience and boost tourism, with more than 13 million visitors hitting Ontario parks last year. There are still some restrictions—no drinking near playgrounds or historic sites—and wardens will be enforcing the rules.

Six games in the NHL tonight, and that will finish the 2025-26 season.
The Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings will be watching the playoffs from home, both unable to qualify for the postseason. The last time neither team made the playoffs was 1982.
The 16 playoff teams are already qualified, so tonight’s games don’t have any major significance other than seeding.

The statement calls for more heavy rainfall today that could cause some flooding as the ground is already near saturation.
More thunderstorms are expected today, with a high of 19°.

On Monday at the Berlin Zoo, a very special birthday celebration was held for Fatou—the world’s oldest gorilla living in captivity.

Fatou turned 69, enjoying a healthy feast of cherry tomatoes, beets and lettuce, but no cake, since sugar’s off her menu.
She’s a western lowland gorilla, and has lived at the Berlin Zoo since 1959. She has far outlived the typical lifespan for gorillas in the wild. Fatou lives in her own enclosure, deals with a bit of arthritis—but still showing plenty of personality. She can be friendly, and a little stubborn.
