After some cool, rainy days things look to improve a little for the start of our work week.
According to Environment Canada, we’ll see a high of 25C today with some sunshine later in the afternoon. Highs will stay in the upper 20’s and besides a slight chance of showers on Wednesday, we should see plenty of sunshine to wrap up the month of May.

Felix Rosenqvist won the 110th running Indianapolis 500 on Sunday.
The win is the closest in Indy 500 history. Rosenqvist beat David Malukas by 0.02 seconds. The previous closest finish was in 1992 by a margin of 0.043 seconds.
The winning driver and team celebrated the win with the traditional pint of milk in the winners circle.
Ridgetown’s Jeff Gotelaer was spotting for Danish driver Christian Lundgaard. Lundgaard started 19th and finished 17th.
IndyCar will race this weekend on the streets of Detroit.

It was a winning weekend for Chatham’s Bridget Carleton.
Carleton played a WNBA regular season game in her home country for the first time on Saturday at Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto.
Carleton helped lead the Portland Fire to a 99-78 win over the Toronto Tempo in the first matchup of the WNBA expansion teams. It was also Portland’s first road win.

Women and girls in Chatham-Kent will have a chance to learn self-defence skills later this weekend.
The Chatham-Kent Sexual Assault Crisis Centre is hosting a free workshop at the WISH Centre on Saturday, May 30th at 11 a.m., led by an instructor from Wallaceburg Martial Arts. The session will cover basic self-defence techniques and discussions around sexual violence prevention.
No cost to participate. Free for all ages. The event is part of Sexual Violence Prevention Month, as the crisis centre raises awareness and offering support services in the community.

It’s Memorial Day in the U.S.
It’s a day for honouring the men and women who have died while on duty with the U.S. military and it is a day where Americans across the country pay their respects, often by visiting military cemeteries or memorials.
Memorial Day travel is set to hit a record this year, with 45 million Americans expected to travel at least 50 miles from home.
The holiday is observed on the last Monday of May.
