Detroit is getting a PWHL team.
The Professional Women’s Hockey League announced yesterday that the Motor City will be awarded an expansion franchise for the 2026–27 season. The team will play its home games at Little Caesars Arena.
Detroit’s team will feature a color scheme of black and silver, with white as a secondary color and red as an accent. In the first season, the jerseys are expected showcase a simple “DETROIT” wordmark running diagonally across the chest.
Detroit also received a WNBA expansion team recently; the team, yet to be named, is slated to start play in 2029.

Alert Ready will be conducting a test across the province today to ensure the system’s readiness in the case of an actual emergency.

These routine tests of the Alert Ready system typically happen twice per year.
The emergency alert system is in place to warn Canadians of a long list of threatening events, from the recent familiarity of the COVID-19 pandemic to earthquakes, floods, forest fires, nuclear incidents, tornadoes, and potentially dangerous weather conditions.
The test is scheduled for 1:55 p.m.

Memorabilia from the estate of Matthew Perry is going up for auction June 5, with proceeds benefiting the Matthew Perry Foundation, which supports addiction recovery and fights stigma.
Items include scripts and signed materials from Friends, Perry’s 1995 SAG Award, his replica peephole frame, and personal collectibles like a photo album, along with artwork by Banksy and others.
The auction will be displayed in Beverly Hills before going live online and in Dallas. Click here to view the items.
Perry died in 2023 at age 54 from acute ketamine effects, and multiple people tied to the case have since pleaded guilty.
