A cooler pattern is settling into southwestern Ontario for the week ahead. Overnight temperatures will dip, with plenty of sunshine today before clouds midweek.

Comfortable daytime highs in the low to mid-20s, but showers and a thunderstorms are possible tomorrow afternoon, with for rain also on Wednesday and Thursday.

Things look better by Friday, with mostly sunny skies and temperatures climbing back into the upper 20s.


Chatham-Kent will host a public meeting on Wednesday, June 24 to provide updates on the controversial York1 waste-management project.

Municipal officials will outline ongoing legal and political efforts to oppose the proposal, which has drawn significant concern from local residents over potential environmental and community impacts.

Questions must be submitted in advance, and a court hearing on the project’s planning approval requirements is scheduled for September. Submit questions here.


For the first time in 53 years, the New York Knicks are NBA Champions.

The Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs 4 games to 1 to win the series.

New York came back from double-digit deficits in all four wins in the series. In game 4, the erased a 29-point hole—the largest comeback in NBA Finals history.

Former Toronto Raptor, now a 2-time champ, OG Anunoby is looking forward to the championship parade this week.

The Carolina Hurricanes are Stanley Cup champions for the second time in franchise history.

Carolina shut out the Vegas Golden Knights 3–0 in Game 6 on Sunday night, clinching the series four games to two.

This is Carolina’s first Stanley Cup title since 2006, capping off a dominant playoff run.


Detroit will host the 2026 PWHL awards ceremony tomorrow night.

The Professional Women’s Hockey League will recognize the league’s top performers from the regular season. On Wednesday night, Detroit will host the 2026 PWHL Draft at the Fox Theatre (tickets are available to purchase here.)

Detroit’s new PWHL franchise will begin play in the 2026–27 PWHL season, with home games at Little Caesars Arena. The team was officially announced in May as part of the league’s expansion.
