Ontario is raising the speed limit on more highways.
The speed limit will be increased to 110-kilometre-an-hour on more than 900 kilometres of highways over the summer, with the first changes taking effect this week on parts of Highways 401 and 416 in eastern Ontario.
Locally, from Merlin Road in CK to Highway 427 near the airport in Toronto will be increased from 100 kilometres per hour to 110km/h on August 31st.
Speed limits of 110 km/hr will be in place on 89 per cent of provincial highways by the end of September.
Additional stretches of the 400, 401, 403, 404, 407, QEW and several other highways will follow through September. The decision reflects the fact that many of these highways were originally designed for higher speeds.

If you bought a Lotto Max ticket in Chatham last summer, it might be time to check your pockets and drawers.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation says a $100,000 ENCORE prize from the July 8th, 2025 draw is still unclaimed and will expire in just two weeks.
The winning ENCORE numbers were 2-2-2-7-0-1-3, and the ticket was sold in Chatham.
Lottery prizes must be claimed within one year of the draw date. If you think you have the winning ticket should contact Customer Care with details about when and where it was purchased.

Today is Leon Day.
‘Leon’ is ‘noel’ spelled backward.
