After a relatively mild start to summer, things are heating up in CK this week.
Chatham-Kent and most of southwestern Ontario is under a heat warning. The heat is expected to build through the week with daytime highs hovering between 33C-36C and lows in the mid-20s. With the humidex, temps will feel closer to the mids 40s.
The extreme heat is expected to last into the weekend. With the heat warning, you’re reminded to drink plenty of water, watch for early signs of heat exhaustion and plan any outdoor activities during the cooler parts of the day.

There will be a full moon tonight.
Also known as the strawberry moon, will light up the night sky in most of the Western Hemisphere. The strawberry moon is named for the relatively short strawberry growing season in northeastern North America.
Tonight’s full Moon will follow a low, shallow path across the sky, meaning moonlight will travel through more of the Earth’s atmosphere and that should give it a colourful orange or yellow tint.
There’s a lunar eclipse too, but it won’t be visible here. You can watch it online though. The Virtual Telescope Project’s YouTube page will live stream the eclipse starting at noon today.
The next full Moon will be the Buck Moon on July 5th

Sephora has rolled out a new initiative in its stores.
The beauty giant announced it will introduce “quiet hours” at its stores across the globe to create a calmer, more sensory-friendly shopping experience for neurodivergent and sensory-friendly customers.
During the allotted hours, stores will have no music, lower lighting, minimized scents and flashing displays.
Hours are determined locally by each individual store.
