Today is a PA Day for most students in Chatham-Kent.

CK Recreation is hosting a free swim in Blenheim.

The Gable Rees Rotary Pool in Blenheim will have some free open swim time 1:30-3:00 p.m.

RM’s Cars & Coffee is back tomorrow.

Cruise on in to RM Classic Cars (One Classic Car Drive, Blenheim, Ontario) for a morning of all things automotive.

All are welcome 8–11 a.m., rain or shine, with coffee and pastries – while they last. Come see why Chatham-Kent is ‘Canada’s Classic Car Capital’.

CAA has released its 2026 list of the Worst Roads in Ontario.

Barton Street East in Hamilton was named the worst road in Ontario for a third time. It was also the top road in 2022 and in 2023. It is Hamilton’s longest road. This year, Hurontario Street in Mississauga took the second spot. Notre Dame Avenue in Greater Sudbury placed third.

In the Southwest region, which includes Chatham-Kent, Essex, and Lambton County – The top 5 worst in the region:

Blackwell Sideroad, Sarnia
Errol Road East, Sarnia
Indian Road South, Sarnia
Riverside Drive East, Windsor
Vidal Street South, Sarnia

Since 2003, CAA’s annual Worst Roads campaign has influenced change. Repaving and repair work has been done on many of the roads on Ontario’s Worst Roads list, with more to come.

The video game Tetris turns 42 tomorrow.

It’s been on more gaming platforms than any other game in history. The theme is a Russian folk tune from the 1800s and the lyrics are about a peddler who seduces a young peasant girl.

Today is Donut Day. It falls on the first Friday in June every year.

In 1938, Donut Day was established as a way to honour the members of the Salvation Army that came to the aid of soldiers during World War I. The “Donut Lassies” would fry up donuts in a war helmet, frying up 7 at a time.

Our friends over at Maple City Bakery have specials on all their donuts this morning, and kids under 10 get one free – last year they sold out by 1 p.m.
