The Gordie Howe International Bridge is finally ready to open.
The new six-lane crossing between Windsor and Detroit will officially open on July 27th – two weeks today – creating a direct link between Highway 401 and Interstate 75.
The news comes after a planned ribbon-cutting ceremony last month was delayed as the Trump administration looked to renegotiate a long-standing agreement between Canada and the U.S. The Canadian federal government says the bridge will strengthen trade, improve border crossings, and boost economic growth on both sides of the border.
The Windsor-Detroit corridor handles hundreds of millions of dollars in trade every day, making it North America’s busiest commercial land border.

Spain’s famous Running of the Bulls at the San Fermin festival in Pamplona is underway, and it wasn’t a good weekend for one runner : he was gored in the face.
Twelve others were treated for injuries after a bull broke away from the pack and knocked down several runners.
Saturday’s was the fifth morning run of the eight-day festival in northern Spain. The tradition dates back centuries and began as a way of moving fighting bulls from their pens to the city’s bullring. Today, thousands of thrill-seekers from around the world take part in the daily 875-metre run through Pamplona’s narrow streets, despite the obvious dangers.
