The weekly Dresden Rotary Club Summer Concert Series will attempt to take the stage tonight – they’ve had to cancel 4 shows already this summer! Jackie Wills will start at 7 at Dresden Rotary Park. There is a BBQ that begins at 6.

Women are invited to take the plunge at a free women-only swim hosted by Taste of Chatham-Kent. The swim is from noon until 1:30 at the Wallaceburg Sydenham Pool.

It’s an opportunity for women to enjoy the pool in a comfortable, supportive environment. No admission fee is required.


It’s a Summer Movie Doubleheader Day at the Chatham Capitol Theatre today.

Bring the family out this afternoon for a family activity at 2 p.m, then stick around to see The Incredibles beginning at 3 p.m. Michael will be on the big screen tonight beginning at 7 p.m.

The San Diego Comic-Con kicks off in San Diego, California today.

The SDCC is the biggest “comics” convention in North America. Comics is in quotes because it’s much more than that, when it started way back in 1970, the convention was devoted to comics, movies, and fantasy literature.


Canadian Blood Services is asking Canadians to roll up their sleeves after blood donations dropped nearly 20% since June 1st.

The decline is much steeper than the usual summer slowdown, with fewer donation appointments booked than expected across the country. All blood types are needed to help maintain a safe supply for hospitals.

The next clinics locally:

  • Tilbury – Ryder Hall – Monday, August 3 – 1 to 6 p.m.
  • Blenheim – St. Mary’s Hall – Tuesday, August 11 – 1 to 7 p.m.
  • Chatham Portuguese Club – Saturday, August 15 – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Chatham Portuguese Club – Tuesday, August 18 – 1 to 8 p.m.
