CK Can Jam is back, bringing a few new pieces of public art and a splash of colour.

The third annual mural festival kicked off Sunday and runs for a week, with a dozen artists creating 11 murals.

Five artists will work all week in Tecumseh Park, painting eight-by-12-foot panels that will be gifted to communities across Chatham-Kent.

Some artists are returning, while two are coming from overseas.

There’ll also be a free community barbecue Wednesday from 1 to 3 at Tecumseh Park. Mural locations will be revealed during the festival. Maps are available here.

In case you missed it over the weekend, Canada suspended all trade talks with the U.S. after a late night of negotiations on Friday.

The U.S. is now hitting some Canadian industries with tariffs as high as 50%, and Canada says it will respond dollar-for-dollar starting next month.

Prime Minister Mark Carney says the sticking points included auto tariffs, restrictions on Canada making trade deals with other countries, and U.S. demands affecting language, culture and sovereignty.

Ontario, Quebec and B.C. are likely to feel the biggest impact — meaning businesses and consumers could face higher costs as the dispute continues.

The Old Farmer’s A lmanac released its annual long-range forecast and they’re saying it’ll be a warmer-than-normal winter across much of Canada.

Ontario should have below-average snowfall in parts of the province. For Southwestern Ontario, it could mean fewer prolonged cold snaps, but still plenty of opportunities for snow and messy winter weather; basically: potentially a milder winter, but definitely not a snow-free winter.

The PWHL has a problem — Montreal’s championship cup has gone missing.

The Walter Cup belonging to the Montreal Victoire did not arrive as expected in Lethbridge, Alberta, where it was to be displayed. The shipping container arrived, but the 35-pound sterling silver trophy wasn’t inside, and the event had to be postponed.

The PWHL is working with the shipping company to find it. Unlike the NHL’s Stanley Cup, there’s no dedicated trophy handler travelling with it.

The last public sighting of the trophy appears to have been a little over a week ago, when some Victoire players brought the trophy to the Canadian Open in Montreal.

The missing trophy is the championship trophy given to Montreal to keep — the original cup remains safely at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.
