After some rainouts earlier in the season, the Dresden Rotary Club has extended the Summer Concert Series with a show tonight, and again next week.

Classic Vibe will take the stage at 6 p.m. (note the earlier start time) Next week Southern Moon Revival will perform to wrap up the season.

In Blenheim, the Talbot Trail Summer Concert Series continues at Talbot Trail Place to see By Design.

The show begins at 7.

It’s a Summer Movie Doubleheader Day at the Chatham Capitol Theatre today.

Bring the family out this afternoon to see Hoppers beginning at 3 p.m. National Lampoon’s Vacation will be on the big screen tonight beginning at 7 p.m.

There will be a near-total lunar eclipse tonight.

The Earth will move directly between the sun and the moon, blocking sunlight and casting its shadow across the lunar surface. Most of the moon will slip into that shadow and take on a deep red or copper colour — the effect that gives these events the nickname “blood moon.” The eclipse is safe to watch with the naked eye, so there’s no need for special glasses.

The partial eclipse begins around 10:33 p.m. The best time to look will be around 12:12 a.m. Friday, when about 96% of the moon will be covered by Earth’s shadow. The partial eclipse wraps up around 1:51 a.m., although the more subtle penumbral phase continues until about 3:01 a.m.

Tonight is Trivia Night at Sons of Kent in support of Rise House International.

Cost is $20 per person at the door. Trivia begins at 7pm with some awesome prizes to be won.

Marineland’s last dolphins are leaving Canada.

Four dolphins and two beluga whales left the Niagara Falls attraction Wednesday, headed for Spain. The move went smoothly, with no injuries reported. The dolphins — Echo, Lida, Marina and Tsunami — are the last captive dolphins in Canada.

There was a setback in the relocation of Peekachu, a beluga that was moved to Chicago last month. The 23-year-old died suddenly Tuesday evening. She had shown signs of dehydration and was receiving supportive care.

Six more belugas remain at Marineland and are expected to leave for the United States soon.
