The last full week of summer starts with sunshine according to Environment Canada.

Sunny skies today with a high of 22C. Sunshine on Tuesday, with a slight chance of rain on Wednesday and Thursday.

Autumn arrives on Tuesday, September 22 at 8:04 p.m.

Be prepared to slow down for construction at the corner of Park Avenue East and Sass Road in Chatham until December.

Work will begin at the intersection today. It is being widened for new turn lanes, and new traffic lights, curbs, sidewalks, street lights, and pavement will be added.

Businesses in the area will remain accessible throughout construction.

The Chatham-Kent Film Group will screen Tuner tonight at the Chatham Capitol Theatre.

The first ever Canadian Baseball League (CBL) Dominico Cup Finals will see the Hamilton Cardinals take on the Welland Jackfish in a best-of-seven championship series.

Hamilton is in the finals for the first time in 24 years, while Welland won the IBL championship last season.

The final begins Friday in Hamilton.

Canadian boxing legend George Chuvalo has died.

Chuvalo was 89. The Toronto-born heavyweight was a five-time Canadian champion and went 73-and-18 as a professional, with 64 knockouts. He’s best remembered for going the distance twice against Muhammad Ali — including their famous 1966 fight at Maple Leaf Gardens. Chuvalo never won a world title, but he was ranked as high as number two in the world and was never knocked down in his professional career.

Chuvalo was also a familiar face in Chatham-Kent, frequently appearing as a special guest at KAYO Boxing Club’s annual shows.
