Chatham-Kent could be in line for the largest single investment in the municipality’s history.

Canadian Energies has chosen Chatham-Kent as its preferred location for a major clean-energy manufacturing facility. The company would produce solar-energy equipment, battery storage systems and AI-focused storage.

The project is still preliminary and would require support from both the federal and provincial governments, as well as approval from Chatham-Kent council. The proposal is being discussed this week at the Canadian Investment Summit hosted by Prime Minister Mark Carney.

The world’s largest beer festival kicks off on Saturday in Munich Germany.

The 191st Oktoberfest, attracts around 6 million visitors from around the world. Drinkers sit at long communal tables to swig beer, eat sausages, pretzel or pork knuckle, and listen to oompah bands. The German Oktoberfest runs until October 6th.

A little closer to home, the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest begins next Friday. Since 1969, the German tradition has taken over K-W and continues to support over 70 charities. It’s being held until October 17th.

Kawhi Leonard is officially a Toronto Raptor again — seven years after leading the franchise to its first NBA championship.

The Raptors have completed the blockbuster trade with the Los Angeles Clippers, sending Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, two future first-round picks, a first-round pick swap and two second-round picks to L.A. Leonard, now 35, averaged nearly 28 points a game last season.

The deal had been held up for months while the NBA investigated the Clippers for salary-cap violations. Leonard is expected to speak with reporters at Raptors media day September 28th.
