The 2026 Field of Honour: The Chatham Coloured All-Stars Charity Baseball Game is this weekend at Fergie Jenkins Field. The event is set for Saturday from 11 am – 4 pm

What began in 2021 as an idea to help further the recognition of the Chatham Coloured All-Stars and early Black baseball in Canada, has now grown into an annual event to celebrate and honour the legacies players left behind.

Admission is by donation with proceeds going to support the Chatham-Kent Black Historical Society and Black Mecca Museum.

Chatham-Kent will attempt to reclaim its title of building the World’s Largest Caesar Cocktail.

It’s a record proudly held by Chatham-Kent after the 2018 International Plowing Match before it was broken in Manitoba

The attempt will be made at Sons of Kent Thursday night as part of Crowfest. A ticket includes: Admission to the event, A Caesar sample Flight, Live entertainment, Access to food trucks and festival festivities and A spot during the world record attempt.

Merriam-Webster has added about 1,400 new words and definitions to its dictionary, reflecting changes in language and popular culture. The additions include terms such as “looksmaxxing,” “parasocial,” “crashout,” “Rickroll,” “meme coin,” “Sunday scaries” and “vibe coding.”

Other new entries include “cuffing season,” “yacht rock,” “chili crisp,” “cake pop,” “superfood” and “AGI,” or artificial general intelligence.

Merriam-Webster says words are considered for inclusion based on how frequently and widely they are used. Its editors review millions of examples of words in published and online sources before adding them to the dictionary.

The National Toy Hall of Fame has announced its 12 finalists for 2026, and the list includes some familiar names. Tickle Me Elmo, Care Bears, Bingo, Yahtzee, Mahjong, Pokémon Trading Card Game, Bop It!, Monster High dolls, Polly Pocket, Mouse Trap, Sorry! and the playground slide are all in the running.

The public can vote from September 16th to 23rd, with three toys ultimately being inducted into the Hall in November. To qualify, toys must have had a significant impact on play, engaged multiple generations, encouraged creativity or influenced toy design.

Some of this year’s finalists have been nominated before, including Tickle Me Elmo, Pokémon cards and Mahjong. The National Toy Hall of Fame currently has 90 inductees, including Hot Wheels, Frisbee, G.I. Joe and Mr. Potato Head

Japan has reached a new longevity milestone, with 107,677 people aged 100 or older living in the country this year. That’s an increase of nearly 8,000 people from last year and the first time the number has passed 100,000 in the country.

Women make up about 88% of Japan’s centenarians. Japan’s oldest woman is 114-year-old Fuyo Kishimoto, while the oldest man is 112-year-old Hikaru Kato.
