The late summer heat wave continues today – the Yellow Heat Warning is still in effect.

Environment Canada says temperatures will reach about 31 degrees, with a humidex of 41. There’s also a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon, with strong winds possible. There’s a possibility the heat warning will continue into Thursday.

People who are more vulnerable to the heat, including older adults and those living alone, should be checked on. And, as always, never leave children or pets inside a parked vehicle.

It’s the final Chatham Concert Band show of the season.

The Summer Concert Series in Tecumseh Park will wrap up with a free show beginning at 7 p.m. Next season will be the 100th for the band.

The Detroit Tigers may have signed a very intriguing prospect — who’s only 12 years old.

According to a report, Detroit has reached a pre-agreement with Venezuelan prospect Kevin Sosa that could eventually be worth a $4-million signing bonus. Sosa is reportedly already handling fastballs in the 91-to-93 mile-an-hour range.

But here’s the catch: he can’t actually sign yet. To sign a Major League Baseball contract, international players must be at least 16 to sign. So this is essentially a verbal commitment, and a lot can change before Sosa becomes eligible — so maybe hold off on ordering that jersey.

Instagram is making it harder for fake people to become real influencers.

The platform is changing its “AI Creator” label to “AI-generated profile,” making it clearer when the person behind an account doesn’t actually exist. Instagram will also hunt for AI-generated profiles that don’t identify themselves and limit their reach, meaning those accounts may no longer be recommended in places like Reels and Explore.

The change comes after users complained about following profiles they thought were real, only to discover they were completely AI-generated. This doesn’t apply to people simply using AI tools to create or edit their content — it’s aimed at profiles where the person themselves is artificial.
