If you’re looking for work in healthcare, there’s a free local job fair today.

The Healthcare Community Resource and Job Fair is from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Everest Convention Centre (National Road, Chatham)

More than a dozen healthcare employers and community organizations will be there, including the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham-Kent Hospice, Community Living, VON and others. You can meet employers, learn about current openings, training and career options, and connect with local support services.

Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.

The CIBC Run for the Cure is coming to John McGregor Secondary School on Sunday, October 4th.

The Canadian Cancer Society’s CIBC Run for the Cure is a one- or five-kilometre walk or run, bringing people together to support those affected by breast cancer. It’s the largest breast cancer fundraiser in Canada.

The Welland Jackfish are back-to-back champs.

The Jackfish won its second-straight Dominico Cup with a four-game sweep of the Hamilton Cardinals Wednesday night.

Welland finished the regular season in third place in the CBL, beat the Cardinals, who took home the regular season pennant.

A popular children’s book is being recalled across Canada over a potential choking hazard.

Health Canada says the I Spy a Fly! board book from Make Believe Ideas has four plastic wings attached to a fly on the final page. Those wings can come loose when pulled, creating a choking risk for young children.

The affected books have ISBN 9781836422594, and more than 1,200 were sold in Canada between March 2025 and July 2026.

In order to get a refund, costumers need to take a photograph of the 16 pieces on or next to the last page of the book and submit them to Make Believe Ideas.

Heinz is adding some pizazz to ketchup.

They’ve launched two new flavours in Canada: Simply Pickle Ketchup and Simply Spicy Ketchup. The pickle version combines the classic Heinz taste with tangy dill-pickle flavour, while the spicy version brings some heat to fries, burgers and just about anything else you’d normally put ketchup on.

The new flavours are part of Heinz’s push to give shoppers more variety and bolder takes on familiar condiments.
