The 172nd Highgate Fair is tomorrow.

The Wallaceburg Farmers Market is open 8 a.m.-noon in the municipal parking lot on James St. It runs bi-weekly until October 10th.

Ridgetown will host a Farmers Market Saturday 8-noon. The market will be held is Main St. every Saturday until Thanksgiving weekend.

The Harvest Moon is on the way this weekend.

The September full moon, traditionally known as the Harvest Moon, reaches its peak at 12:49 tomorrow afternoon. Tonight, you’ll see a nearly full moon rising, with the full Harvest Moon arriving Saturday.

The name Harvest Moon comes from the full moon closest to the autumn equinox. Its bright evening appearance has traditionally been associated with giving farmers extra light during the harvest season.

It’s the end of an era: Justin Verlander will take the mound for the Tigers one last time.

The 43-year-old future Hall of Famer will make his final career start Saturday at Comerica Park against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Verlander announced earlier this year that 2026 would be his final season, and injuries have limited him to just one start so far this year.

He spent 14 seasons with Detroit, won three Cy Young Awards and an MVP, and ranks eighth all-time with 3,554 strikeouts. The Tigers are holding a two-day celebration this weekend, marking the end of a 21-year career that included two World Series titles.
