Back to school today!

Schools across Chatham-Kent open their doors for another school year this morning. Keep an eye out for students and buses on the roads today.

A few reminders for students, drivers and bus drivers:

🚸 Students: Look both ways before crossing, use designated crossings, and stay alert—especially around driveways and parked cars.

🚗 Drivers: Slow down in school zones, watch for pedestrians and cyclists, and give school buses plenty of room. When the lights are flashing, stop.

🚌 Bus drivers: Take your time, watch carefully around bus stops and be extra aware of students who may be distracted or unpredictable.

And for everyone: give yourself a few extra minutes this morning. The roads are going to be busier, and nobody needs to start the school year with a traffic ticket—or worse.

Back to school with some sunshine this morning according to Environment Canada.

Sunny skies and a high of 27°C today – it’ll feel like 31°C. Cooling off overnight, down to 21°C.

Rain expected for Wednesday and Thursday, before the sunshine returns for the weekend.

Heads up, garbage and recycling will be delayed by one day this week because of the Labour Day holiday.

The new East Windsor Costco is opening November 20th.

The 158,000-square-foot store will have 924 parking spaces, a tire centre, seasonal garden centre and gas bar, with access from Tecumseh Road East and Catherine Street.

The existing Costco on Walker Road, is staying open.

A grave digging competition happened in Hungary over the weekend.

Thirty-eight professional gravediggers recently took part in the annual competition, with teams racing to dig a regulation-sized grave at a cemetery. The winning pair finished in just one hour and 21 minutes, working through dry, hardened soil.

Organizers say the unusual event is designed to recognize the skill and physical work involved in grave digging, while also helping people become more comfortable talking about death. The winning team split a prize worth about $885.
