The Detroit Free Press Marathon will make history this weekend for the biggest turnout in the race’s 49-year history.
This year’s event will draw around 30-thousand runners, up from 26-thousand last year, including close to 3-thousand Canadians.
The sold-out international marathon and half-marathon take place Sunday, with runners crossing the Ambassador Bridge into Windsor, travelling along Riverside Drive, then returning to Detroit through the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel. More than 70% of participants are new to the course, and registration sold out in less than a week.

Canada’s biggest lottery prize ever is now up for grabs tonight.
The Lotto Max jackpot is at a record-breaking 90 million dollars for tonight’s draw.
The jackpot rolled over after Tuesday’s draw produced no grand-prize winner. Along with the 90-million-dollar jackpot, players have a shot at 18 Maxmillions prizes worth one million dollars each, and 90 Maxplus prizes worth 100-thousand dollars each.
Lotto Max draws happen Tuesdays and Fridays.

Banana Ball is going international, and Canada is on the schedule for 2027.

The Banana Ball Championship League will bring games to Toronto’s Rogers Centre on August 14th and 15th, and Winnipeg on August 26th and 28th. It’s the first time the league has played outside the United States, with games also planned for Monterrey and Tijuana, Mexico. The 2027 tour will visit 79 stadiums across 74 cities, with the league expecting to reach millions of spectators.
Known for its dance routines, outrageous on-field antics and unusual rules, Banana Ball has become a major draw for fans.
Fans hoping to catch Banana Ball in Toronto or Winnipeg in 2027 will need to enter the official ticket lottery at bananaball.com/tickets. Entries are open until October 31st, and you can enter for only one city per person. If selected in the random draw, you’ll receive instructions on how to purchase tickets, but selection doesn’t guarantee seats.
