A simple cheek swab could save a life. A stem cell swab event tomorrow in Chatham is giving people another opportunity to help patients who need a life-saving stem cell transplant.
“Swab Up, Save a Life,” takes place Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at St. Clair College’s Thames campus. It’s being organized by Ethan Hunter, who found his own stem cell match after a similar event, with support from the Katelyn Bedard Bone Marrow Association.
Anyone between the ages of 17 and 35 can take part. The quick, painless cheek swab adds potential donors to the Canadian Blood Services Stem Cell Registry, helping patients searching for a compatible match.

Albertans are voting today in a referendum that could have significant implications for Canada’s future.
The non-binding question asks whether Alberta should begin the process of holding a future, legally binding vote on separation. Supporters argue federal policies limit the province’s economic potential, particularly its oil industry, while Premier Danielle Smith and Prime Minister Mark Carney oppose independence.
A vote in favour would not mean Alberta could automatically leave Canada. Separation would involve complex negotiations, constitutional considerations and Indigenous treaty rights. Polls indicate most Albertans continue to support staying in Canada.

Victoria’s Secret brought back its iconic Fantasy Bra for the first time in eight years last night.
The $50-million design featured 4,410 natural diamonds, including a 75.54-carat yellow diamond valued at $22 million. The bra took 15 craftspeople more than 1,000 hours to complete.
Kylie Jenner made her Victoria’s Secret runway debut wearing the Fantasy Bra last night, the first appearance on the runway since 2018.
