The Emmys are moving to Prime Video.

Starting next year, Amazon’s streaming service will carry the Emmy Awards under a new six-year deal with the Television Academy. It ends a seven-decade run of the ceremony airing on one of the major U.S. broadcast networks, which had rotated the show between ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC. The Emmys now attract about seven million viewers, down from more than 20 million at their peak.

The Emmys will still be free to watch, with no Prime Video subscription required.

A new PwC survey finds Canadians expect to spend an average of $1,487 this holiday season, down 11 per cent from last year. 54% say they’d choose a Canadian-made product over a similar imported one, even if it costs more — up from 49% last year. 72% are also looking for alternatives to U.S.-made products.

The survey was conducted before the latest escalation in Canada-U.S. trade tensions, so those numbers could change.

Waymo is now operating fully autonomous vehicles — without a human behind the wheel – in Detroit.

Waymo robotaxis began fully autonomous driving Tuesday, after months of testing. For now, the rides are limited to Waymo employees as the company builds out its safety framework.

The cars are operating in downtown Detroit and nearby neighbourhoods including Corktown, Midtown, Hamtramck and Indian Village. Waymo says public rides are expected to follow in the near future, with plans to eventually expand service across Metro Detroit.
