Christ Church Chatham is once again inviting the community to honour veterans by standing vigil at the Chatham Cenotaph ahead of Remembrance Day.

The non-denominational vigil begins November 10th. Participants will take two-hour shifts, standing guard as a sign of respect and remembrance.

Anyone interested in taking part can contact Christ Church Chatham at 519-352-1640 or churchoffice@christchurchchatham.ca.

Democrats have scored a major win in the U.S. midterm elections, taking control of both the House and Senate in a big setback for President Donald Trump.

Voters have handed Democrats more power in Washington, making it harder for Trump to push through his plans.

The results suggest many Americans are unhappy with the cost of living and the direction of the country. Democrats will now have more say over new laws and more power to challenge the president over the final two years of his term.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac has released its December 2026 long-range forecast, and it looks like Southwestern Ontario could be in for a mixed bag of winter weather.

For Chatham-Kent, that means a mix of snow, rain and some milder temperatures throughout the month. The forecast calls for flurries to start December, followed by a milder, wetter stretch. Colder temperatures and snow are expected around the middle of the month, before things warm up again. But more snow and colder weather could return as we head toward the end of December.

Gas prices are dropping in Chatham-Kent today, with regular unleaded expected to fall by about 11 cents a litre.

But drivers shouldn’t wait too long to fill up — prices are expected to climb again tomorrow, by as much as six cents a litre, as ongoing market uncertainty continues to affect fuel costs.
