Blackburn Media is proud to join radio stations across Canada to amplify Indigenous voices and share stories, perspectives, and conversations about Truth and Reconciliation.
This year’s theme is Honouring Truth with Action.
Hosted by William Prince, A DAY TO LISTEN will feature Indigenous leaders, Knowledge Keepers, educators, artists, and changemakers exploring how acknowledging and understanding the truth can inspire meaningful action toward reconciliation.
Honouring Truth with Action
Honouring truth begins with listening to the lived experiences of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples and acknowledging the lasting impacts of the residential school system and other colonial policies. Learning the truth is an important step — but reconciliation also asks us to turn that understanding into meaningful action.
This year also marks the 10th anniversary of Secret Path. Reflecting on how Gord Downie honoured the story and truth of Chanie Wenjack and helped turn it into action by creating opportunities for learning, dialogue, and change.
Throughout A DAY TO LISTEN, we’ll hear conversations about how each of us can help move reconciliation forward in our communities and across Canada.

The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund aims to build cultural understanding and create a path toward reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.
Through the Legacy Schools program, they provide tools and resources to over 10,000 educators in Canada so they can confidently teach students about not only the true history of this country, but also the richness, strength, and diversity of Indigenous cultures.
The first A DAY TO LISTEN took place on June 30, 2021, following the announcement of 215 potential unmarked graves at the site of the former Kamloops Indian Residential School. With more than 540 radio stations participating, spanning different markets, regions, and formats.
