Dog Leads Rescue Team To Injured Owner In National Park
July 25, 2022 7:35 amSaul, a black border collie, is being hailed a hero after rescuing his owner after he fell 70 feet in the Tahoe National Forest last week.
According to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office, Saul’s 53-year-old owner had called 911 on his cellphone, saying he had broken his hip and some ribs from the fall.
While the owner was calling for help, rescuers were able to contact his friend, who sent them to his campsite. However, the 25-man crew didn’t find the injured hiker right away.
While the search party was looking for the fallen hiker, Saul the dog rushed to the rescuers and was able to send them to the area where his owner had fell.
Rescuers were then able to successfully retrieve the hiker, and take him to a landing zone where he was airlifted to a hospital.
