On Today’s Show

There’s a new dating term called “cloaking.”  And it’s kind of like ghosting, where you just disappear and don’t return texts or phone calls.  But cloaking even more heartless.

Because instead of just ignoring them, you BLOCK them on every app you’ve used to communicate.  AND you block their number.  So there’s no way to get in touch with you.

A reporter in the UK coined the term this month after she got stood up on a date.  The guy never showed, and ignored her calls.  And when she tried to hit him up on the dating app they’d been using, he’d blocked her.

German authorities have ordered a blinged-out golden Porsche off the road for being too shiny. The 31-year-old driver was stopped a northern city last week and told his Porsche Panamera, sporting a reflective gold foil finish, might blind other drivers and was a danger.

He was told to remove the foil and re-register the car, but police say he continued to drive it. The driver was stopped again and police took his keys, papers and license plate, before the vehicle was towed to a garage. He was fined an unspecified amount and will have to remove the foil to make the car street legal again. Apparently another Lamborghini owner nabbed at the same time with similar gold foil complied and removed it.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

Gary and Lisa Fulbright live in Derby, Kansas, just outside Wichita.  And they have TEN KIDS.  Which sounds like a lot . . . until you find out they just adopted SEVEN MORE.  Yes, that’s 17 total.

The seven kids they just adopted range in age from three years old to 12 years old, and they’re all siblings.

Their real dad took off, and their mom lost custody for neglect.  So it sounds like they’re all pretty excited to be with Gary and Lisa now.

The two of them originally became foster parents to three of the seven kids about two years ago.  Then they slowly got custody of the other four as well.

They eventually decided to ADOPT all seven, so they wouldn’t be split up.

And the timing couldn’t have been better.  Because the adoption went through last Wednesday, on National Siblings Day.

YOU CAN’T MAKE THIS UP…..
➠ When police in China pulled over a motorcycle for a routine check, they didn’t expect to see the funniest driver’s license of their entire careers. The man, surnamed Tang, didn’t seem nervous when the officers asked for his documents, and the driver’s license itself had a regular cover, so there was nothing to prepare police for what they were about to see. Inside was a simple piece of paper that seemed ripped out of a school notebook, with all the relevant information written on it, and a picture of the driver glued to it. Tang’s motorcycle was seized and he was asked to report to the traffic department the next day. Photos of his handwritten driver’s license went viral on social media.

➠ A cop in Marlborough, New Hampshire pulled over a 60-year-old woman on Monday afternoon for using her phone while she was driving.

Oh . . . and she also happened to have a BABY GOAT on her lap.

Plus it turns out she also didn’t have a valid driver’s license.

She only wound up getting a ticket for the license though . . . the cop decided to let her off with a lecture on the dangers of distracted driving for the whole phone and goat thing.

A Man Says He Wasn’t Fleeing the Cops . . . He Was Just in a Ferrari and It “Goes Fast”

There’s a 29-year-old guy named Gabriel Molina from Miami, Florida.  And on Saturday night, he was in the Florida Keys, driving a Ferrari.  It’s not clear if it was his or he was just renting or borrowing it.

Anyway, a cop spotted him doing over 75 miles-an-hour in a 45, so the cop tried to pull him over.  But Gabriel TOOK OFF, and started going 100.

Eventually the cop caught up to him when he stopped at a gas station.  And Gabriel’s excuse for the chase was that he didn’t see the cop, he was just speeding for speeding’s sake.  Quote, “The car is a Ferrari, and it goes fast.”

Unfortunately for Gabriel, his female passenger told the cops a different story . . . she said he DEFINITELY saw the cop and decided to try to outrun him.

So Gabriel was arrested for fleeing and eluding.  And it turns out he has nine traffic convictions in the past six years . . . including one for doing 100 in a 55.

The Key to Slowing Down Hearing Loss Is . . . More Chocolate

According to a new study out of South Korea, the key to slowing down your hearing loss as you get older is . . . MORE CHOCOLATE.

The researchers studied more than 3,500 men and women, and they found that the people who regularly ate chocolate saw a 27% decrease in their hearing as they got older . . . versus a 36% decrease for people who didn’t eat chocolate.

Why?

They believe it’s because the antioxidants in chocolate help protect you against hearing loss.

KELSEA BALLERINI JOINS GRAND OLE OPRY – (04/17/2019)

Kelsea Ballerini officially became the newest and youngest member of the Grand Ole Opry last night (Tuesday, April 16th) in Nashville. The 25-year-old was welcomed into the institution by one of her idols, Carrie Underwood, with whom she dueted on Trisha Yearwood‘s “Walkaway Joe” during the show.

Keith Urban also turned up to welcome Kelsea and perform one song — “Blue Ain’t Your Color” — for the excited crowd.

An emotional Kelsea spoke with reporters backstage prior to her induction where she talked about the comfort that being an Opry member brings her.[“I’m so new. I’m such a baby artist and to be able to play this stage once is a dream but to be able to know that I can play this stage in 30 years when the radio quits me and when touring quits me, it’s really comforting and it’s really beautiful so I’m really excited. Crap! (reporters laugh).”]

BRETT YOUNG AND WIFE EXPECTING BABY GIRL – (04/17/2019)

Brett Young has a lot to celebrate these days! For starters, his fourth Number One “Here Tonight,”  and on the personal front, Brett and his wife, Taylor, just learned yesterday (Tuesday, April 16th) that they will be welcoming a baby girl this fall. The couple shared their gender reveal on social media, with Taylor tossing a ball to the former college baseball pitcher which exploded in pink dust.

Brett just kicked off the Miss Me More Tour with Kelsea Ballerini last weekend. He tells us he didn’t have to think twice about joining Kelsea since the last time they toured together was such a blast. [“Summer 2017, the You Look Good Tour, it was me and then Kelsea and then the band, Lady A, and it was one of the most fun summers of my life.  And so when the opportunity came up to do this tour with her and kind of share audiences and get back together again, I mean, it was a no brainer for me. I’m such a big fan of Kelsea, and not only her artistry but her songwriting and everything that she’s doing, and we’re excited to do it again.”]

DUSTIN LYNCH SCORED POINTS WITH HIS SISTER WHEN BACKSTREET BOYS CUT HIS SONG –

Dustin Lynch has been writing songs for years, recently having achieved his first Number One hit as both songwriter and artist with “Good Girl.” Other artists have recorded his tunes, but when he found out that the Backstreet Boys were including one of his co-writes on their latest album, DNA, he was pretty excited. The song is called “Just Like You Like It,” and Dustin wrote it while penning songs for his 2017 Current Mood album, but it didn’t feel right for that project. He tells us he had even forgotten about the song.  [“You never think anything else of it cause we write so much and then you get a phone call, ‘Hey, the Backstreet Boys are cutting your song’ and I go, ‘What song?’ Then I have to go back and look through my folder and remember, ‘Oh, yeah, this one,’ and then it hits you. I listened back to the demo that we did of that song and go, ‘Well, of course they’re cutting it!’ Like it sounds so Backstreet Boys, and it’s really cool. Honestly, like, whenever I heard that news I was texting everybody because we grew up on them, but it’s just really cool. My sister’s very proud of me, I’ll say that (laughs).”]

Dustin admits that during the late 90s and early 2000s he was more of an *NSYNC fan but he still liked BSB.

He’s currently climbing the charts with “Ridin’ Roads,” which he co-wrote for his current EP of the same name.
