A 42-year-old woman in New York started having memory problems and other issues last year, and doctors discovered what they thought was a marble-sized brain tumor.  So they opened her up for surgery this past September . . . and found it was actually a tapeworm.  They have no idea how it got in there, but now she’s fine.  Here’s the woman and her brain surgeon.

Celery prices have skyrocketed. Bad weather and a food fad promoting the benefits of celery juice have pushed the price up to $5.99 and higher for a single bunch.

The typical price for a bunch of celery is around $1.99 and in an extreme example, a Twitter user in Newfoundland posted a picture of celery priced at $9.99.

Contributing to the price is weather and travel. Canada imports a significant portion of its celery, particularly from California.

The high demand for celery seems to have started with Anthony William, who self-identifies as a medical medium who receives his knowledge from a spirit which provides him with “advanced medical information.” He has a massive social media following and he claims drinking 16 ounces of celery juice every morning on an empty stomach helps with a whole host of health problems although dieticians cautioned against following his advice as they don’t know of any clinical trials of celery benefits.

It made another $4.8 million in its seventh week.  It’s definitely slowing down, but it’s closing in on the global box office record held by “Avatar”.  It’s only $57.4 million away.

BEAR GOES ‘SKINNY DIPPING’ IN PENNSYLVANIA HOME’S POOL

Bears need to cool off, too. Police in Pennsylvania say they were called to help get a bear that dashed through residents’ yards before jumping into a pool.

Police say the bear made it into the pool before being corralled by police and Pennsylvania Game Commission officers. The animal was “happily relocated to North Central Pennsylvania where pools are called swamps and there are hundreds of acres of woodland.”

RACCOON TAKES RIDE ON TENNESSEE TEEN’S WINDSHIELD

This is one scenario they don’t prepare you for when you take your driving test. A teen who was only on her second day as a licensed driver was heading home from basketball practice with her mother in Tennessee when she thought she ran over a raccoon.

They were both surprised a few moments later when the animal climbed onto the windshield of the still-moving car. A video taken shows the raccoon hop down and dash away once the car stops.

RANDOM REPORT

  1. The Heisman Trophy is named after a football coach from the early 1900s named John Heisman.  His biggest contribution to the game was having the center snap the ball to the quarterback.  Before that, the center used to just put it on the ground.

  1. “Pretty Woman”was originally called “3,000”, for the amount of money Julia Roberts would be paid for her week of work . . . and it was a dark, depressing drama, not a romantic comedy.

  1. In the original myth, Pandora didn’t open a box . . . she opened a jar.  “Pandora’s box” comes from a bad translation that stuck.

  1. Trees “sleep” at night, relaxing their branches after dawn and perking them up before sunrise.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

A 90-year-old woman named Catherine Ritchie lives alone, just outside Tulsa, Oklahoma.  She was getting ready for bed last month when she walked into her bedroom . . . and her mattress was on FIRE.

It’s not clear how the fire started.  But she realized she couldn’t put it out.  So she hit her emergency call button, and started making her way outside.

But by that point, the smoke was so thick, she couldn’t see anything.  She had to feel her way along the wall just to get out of her bedroom.  And she accidentally walked into a closet instead.

But luckily, four teenage boys happened to walk outside to go get snacks at a convenience store.  And they ran over to help when they smelled the smoke.

Three of them tried to break down Catherine’s front door.  Then their 14-year-old friend Nick Byrd managed to get in through the back.  And he’s the one who found her.

She was in a hallway, still trying to find her way out.  So he picked her up, carried her outside, and she’s okay.

Firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading and save the house.  Catherine says she’s extremely grateful and amazed at how “special” the young men are.

YOU CAN’T MAKE THIS UP……………..

Guy Brags to 911 After Fleeing the Cops

19-year-old Nicholas Jones got pulled over for a broken tail light last month in St. Augustine, Florida.  Then while the cop was walking up to his car, he drove off.

But luckily, Nicholas decided to place a call to 911 about an hour later to BRAG about it.

(CLIP)

He identified himself as the guy who ran from the cop, and was amazed they hadn’t found him yet.  He said he’d driven past four other cop cars, and none of them pulled him over.  Adding, quote, “What do we pay you guys for?”

Thanks to the 911 call, they were able to track him down using his phone number.  And they arrested him the next day.

When they told him how they tracked him down, he thought it was funny that he essentially turned himself in.

He’s facing charges for reckless driving, fleeing a law enforcement officer, and misuse of 911.  And they also found a bunch of drugs in his car.

Cops Are Looking for a Woman Who Did Some Serious Twerking While She Shoplifted

The cops in Pembroke Pines, Florida are looking for a woman who shoplifted more than $300 worth of clothes from a store.

And as she grabbed clothes off the shelves and shoved them in her bag . . . she was TWERKING the whole time.

You can see from the surveillance video she was doing some serious dancing . . . in bright yellow pants . . . while she shoplifted.

The cops are trying to track her down . . . and they’re also looking for her friend who shoplifted with her but didn’t do any dancing.

TOMATO JUICE DAILY COULD LOWER BLOOD PRESSURE AND CHOLESTEROL

If you enjoy the taste of unsalted tomato juice– good news– it’s very healthy.

Researchers from Japan found drinking about seven ounces of the juice each day can lower blood pressure and cholesterol in those at risk of heart disease.

It’s thought the lycopene, a chemical that gives tomatoes their redness, prevents plaque from building up in the arteries.

Critics of the study say it fails to take participants’ other lifestyle choices into account, and say more research would be needed to accurately represent the health benefits of drinking the tomato juice.

99 WORK PROBLEMS, BUT A BEACH AIN’T ONE:
A growing number of companies are now…get ready for it…actually helping pay for their staff members’ vacations.

It’s the newest way of combating a few problems: For one, many employees don’t use up all of their vacation time, and for another, having a perk like that goes a long way when it comes to hiring and retaining good employees in a tight labor market.

Most companies involved in the program offer a 50 per cent match on people’s contributions into their vacation funds, capped at anywhere between $10 and $100 per pay period. In some cases, employers match their workers’ travel savings dollar for dollar.

Other employers create a flat-rate use-it-or-lose-it annual travel fund for their employees, where the worker has the option of jetting off with perhaps a $5,000 travel voucher, or leaving it on the table if they don’t take advantage of it by the end of the year.

It’s also not 100% clear that David was the target . . . even though he was shot at such close range.

Whoo! (laughs) Super excited! THOMAS RHETT PLANS SPECIAL ALBUM RELEASE CELEBRATION

Thomas Rhett held a special event at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville to celebrate the release of his new album, Center Point Road.  Thomas wanted to make this album release celebration very special.

[“We’re calling it the Center Point Road Experience, and they get to come in and hear us play hits that they love and also like five or six songs off the new record, in like a super broken down, like power acoustic kind of way, with a little Q & A.  Get to explain why the song was written, where it was written, how long it took to write it. Like, I just feel like as a fan, if I was going to go to Eric Church’s album release event, I wouldn’t want to just go to a show. I would want to watch him and his guitar and be able to like understand like how and why he wrote my favorite song on that record, and so I’m trying to do that same thing that I would want as a fan, for my fans.”]

Thomas’ Very Hot Summer Tour continues through the fall with special guest Dustin Lynch as well as Russell Dickerson and Rhett Akins.
