Authorities in New York state say a herd of 75 loose buffalo are on the loose, and are proving difficult to capture. New York State Police say the bison escaped from a farm last week and have been trampling and feeding on the crops of nearby farms since then. The issue now is that the animals seem to have split into three or four smaller groups, making it more difficult to track them. The owner of the farm the animals escaped from says they broke through a gate. Police are warning residents to not approach the buffalo.

A woman and her family went to an air show in Calgary last weekend that got cancelled due to high winds.  As she was leaving, she needed to use the porta-potty, but as soon as she sat down, the winds tipped over the portable toilet, door side down, and trapped her inside.

GOOD NEWS

Five custom made intravenous stands have been donated to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, thanks to a charity dedicated to helping sick children.

Mason Macri is a four-year-old boy who died after living with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a form of cancer that develops from skeletal (striated) muscle cells that have failed to fully differentiate. The poles cost roughly $1,200 to make, however, the charity makes no money off of them. Mason’s mother said the charity has put a patent on the idea so no one ever will exploit sick children for financial gain.

Mason’s Power Poles have been distributed across Ontario, including Toronto, London, and the Muskokas. What started as a memory of their son is turning into a national call to action, similar to one started by Terry Fox in the 1980s.

On Tuesday, the health alliance joined the Fight Like Mason charity in brightening up the day for Chatham-Kent children who live with variations of the life-altering disease.

Someone Stole a Package off a Woman’s Porch . . . With Nine Tarantulas Inside

Whoever stole this package is going to learn the meaning of the phrase “instant karma” when they open it.

There’s a woman in Spartanburg, South Carolina.  And over the weekend, she called the cops after she got a notification from FedEx that her package was delivered . . . but she didn’t see it on her porch. It appears that someone stole the package.

But what the thief didn’t realize is that the box had NINE TARANTULAS inside.

The cops say they don’t have any suspects so far . . . but I suppose they could just wait until they see someone running down the street screaming.

A Woman Finds a Giant, Angry Spider on the Wall of Her Home

There’s a woman in Queensland, Australia named Laree Clarke.  And a few days ago, she came home and found a GIANT HUNTSMAN SPIDER on a wall in her house.

It’s hard to explain just how BIG the spider looks in the pictures, but according to Laree, it was about the size of her hand . . . and it was so big she didn’t have a container big enough to capture it in.

And when she shined her phone light on it, quote, “It [came] at me, raising its fangs and legs.”

She posted the pictures asking for advice for what to do on Facebook and the responses were things like, quote, “Take out life insurance” and “Just burn the house down.”

According to Laree, she WAS able to eventually remove it safely.  But the nightmares will remain, I’m sure.

STUDY: WORKPLACE SAFETY CAN WORSEN UNDER BULLYING BOSSES

If your boss is a bully work might be a more dangerous place for you.

Researchers found bosses’ behaviors can strengthen or weaken employees’ sense of belonging to the work group by supporting or undermining their status within the group. In other words, if a boss treats an employee badly it can make the person feel they’re not valued by any other member of the group.

As a result, that employee can become more self-centered, leading them to sometimes forget to comply with safety rules or overlook opportunities to promote a safer work environment.

Have Trouble Sleeping? Take a Hot Bath 90 Minutes Before Bed

Most people today take showers more than baths.  But if you have trouble sleeping, you might want to reconsider.

Researchers looked at over 5,000 previous studies that linked water-based activities with sleep quality.  And they found a lot of evidence that a hot bath before bed can help you fall asleep faster.

It works because it improves circulation, which starts moving heat away from your core.  In the long run, a hot bath actually LOWERS your body temperature.

And that’s good for sleep, because our bodies naturally run a little cooler at night . . . about 1 or 2 degrees lower than when we’re awake.  So taking a bath essentially just gives you a head start on that.

According to the study, it can help you fall asleep an average of 10 minutes faster.  But not all baths are created equal.  Here are two things to remember . . .

  1. Take your bath about 90 minutes before bed.  Between 1 and 2 hours is the sweet spot.  Any earlier leaves too much time for your temperature to go back up.  And if you take a bath RIGHT before bed, it won’t have a chance to dip down at all.

  1. The water should be hot, but not too hot.  The perfect temperature is between 104 and 109 degrees.  So it should be more than lukewarm, but not feel like it’s burning you.

THOMAS RHETT WANTS ‘THE MOST GIGANTIC FAMILY ON THE PLANET’ – (07/30/2019)

Thomas Rhett and his wife, Lauren, have their third child on board, with the new addition joining the growing family in February. It might look like Thomas and Lauren will have their hands pretty full with three, but Thomas tells us he’s nowhere near being ready to call it quits. [“I love my two kids and I’m kind of content, but at the same time if we stopped having kids now I know I’d wake up at 45 and go, ‘We should’ve had five more, because I really do want to be able to sit at a Thanksgiving or Christmas table with the most gigantic family on the planet. And so as scary as it is welcoming a new kid into our lives, I’m just going to embrace it because there is nothing more fun than being around my children. And so I can only imagine it gets more fun the more that you have.”]

In addition to his parenting duties with three-year-old Willa and one-year-old Ada, Thomas is keeping busy on his headlining Very Hot Summer Tour and promoting his new album, Center Point Road

KELSEA BALLERINI CREDITS SPECIAL MUSIC TEACHER FOR PUTTING HER ON CAREER PATH –

Each year, hundreds of artists perform at CMA Music Festival in downtown Nashville and donate their time and talent so a portion of ticket proceeds can directly support and sustain music education programs across the country through CMA’s nonprofit arm, the CMA Foundation. As one of this year’s performers on the main stage at Nissan Stadium, not to mention co-host of Sunday’s (August 4th) ABC-TV prime time special, CMA FestKelsea Ballerini tells us that if it wasn’t for a special music teacher in her life, she might not be where she is today. [“I had a music teacher. Her name’s Becky Thomas. She’s retired now, but she was the first person that encouraged me to be on stage. She really encouraged me to write songs and the first time I ever played a song that I had written on stage it was because of her, so that’s really the heart of what this is all about, so to be able to be a part of that and knowing that there are kids in the classroom right now that are having those teachers that are able to have the funds and the resources to give those kids those opportunities. That really matters to me. I was that kid, so that’s cool.”]

Catch Kelsea performing alongside The Chainsmokers on the three-hour special, which airs at 8 p.m. ET. Her co-host again this year is Thomas Rhett.
