Chamber Of Commerce Lunch & Learn
September 9, 2026 2:41 pmI had the chance to attend the latest Chamber Lunch & Learn event at the Dante Club yesterday.
It focused on the subject of Procrastination and we were taught different methods to help ourselves work, and I guess, live life, more efficiently.
Brenda Pearson (of Brenda Pearson Coaching) helped us to understand procrastination – what is IS and ISN’T.
Procrastination does NOT equal laziness. It comes down to our survival instincts (fight, flight, freeze or fawn) and our background experiences and the stories we tell ourselves. She gave us all the tools to take back our time. To understand distractions. Hello, social media! It’s EASY to get distracted, but harder to stay focused and organized. Unless you use the tools she provided yesterday.
We learned 5 strategies to optimize our time.
Time Boxing – blocking chunks of time for specific items.
Theme Days – be specific in what you’re working on on specific days of the week. I love this idea.
The Pomodoro Method – is a time-management method that breaks work into 25-minute focused intervals separated by short 5-minute breaks
Time Confetti – five minutes between meetings or ten minutes before leaving—that leave you feeling busy but unproductive. Keep a dedicated “time confetti list”: Write down quick 20-to-40-minute tasks—like replying to a single email, stretching, or watering a plant—so you can use small breaks intentionally instead of defaulting to mindless scrolling.
The 1 & Done scheduling method focuses your energy on identifying your single most important priority and finishing it before moving on to anything else.
I am so excited to implement the tools we learned yesterday and I’ve been thinking a lot about the question she asked in the beginning “What would you do with two more hours in your day? – THAT answer will lead you to what truly matters.”
And for that – we want MORE time, right?
And yes, the event came with an amazing lunch from the Dante Club – pasta, salad and the most amazing focaccia bread.
The Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce has a full calender of events coming up over the next few months.
