A Change.org petition titled “London Needs a Winter Skatepark!” has received nearly 800 signatures. In an effort to realize the goal of a permanent indoor skatepark, the campaign is still gaining support.
Marner Match – Erase The Stigma Around Mental Health
With the Marner Match, a fundraising campaign with the goal of erasing the stigma around mental health, London Health Sciences Foundation (LHSF) and Mitch Marner of the Toronto Maple Leafs, along with the Marner Assist Foundation, are working together to change the mental health environment for youth at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC).
From October 8 until December 31, the Marner Assist Foundation will match every donation made to LHSC’s First Episode Mood and Anxiety Program (FEMAP), up to $50,000.
Commemorative Bench for Cheryl Sheldon
The community will gather to give a commemorative bench in honour of Cheryl Sheldon, whose life was sadly taken by femicide on June 22, 2024. Her legacy will be forever honoured. The incident, a symbol of collective resilience and unity, will take place on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Carling Heights Optimist Community Centre, 656 Elizabeth St, London, Ontario.
The community’s actions guarantees that Cheryl’s legacy will not be forgotten. Mayor Josh Morgan and the Quebec-based family of Cheryl are giving remarks. Police Chief Thai Truong, MPs Karen Vecchio, Lindsay Mathyssen, Peter Fragiskatos, and Arielle Kayabaga, as well as the MPPs Peggy Sattler, Terence Kernaghan, and Teresa Armstrong, are among those attending.
