Things You Need To Know…
November 6, 2024 10:36 amHere is what you need to know for November 6th, 2024…
With the American Presidential race coming to a stop as of 5:30am (EST) this morning, Wednesday November 6th, Donald Trump has been announced as the 47th President of the United States of America.
(Donald Trump hitting 277 electoral votes with Kamala Harris at 224 electoral votes.)
So what does this mean for Canada?
Though Trump is not the leader of Canada, he still has a direct influence over our country. Trump has spoken about a potential 10% tariff for all American exports into Canada. Canadian Chambers Of Commerce suggests that this would raise our annual economic costs about $30 billion.
American economists advise against this tariff, as it would raise American taxes for middle-low class citizens, raise inflation, and create a ripple effect into Canada. Many experts observed that this would cause a shocking 5% loss of GDP (Gross Domestic Product) in Canada.
Trudeau is prepared for a negotiation with Trump, hoping to at least lower the tariff percentage.
Trump is also predicted to be putting pressure on Canada to spend more money on our Military Defenses. Many Americans are claiming that our military spending is not up to NATO standards, and there is speculation that, in our best interest, Trump will be advocating for Canada to have an improved military.
Trump is also very vocal about the alleged 11 million illegal immigrants, and how he plans for a mass deportation. There is talk about illegal border crossing into Canada if he goes through with his deportation plans.
Trump has also been seen bragging about his contribution to “killing” Roe v. Wade. Roe v. Wade was a landmark decision about abortion laws in the United States of America, having the federal government recognize abortions as a human right. Trump has taken a very obvious approach to the Pro-Life movement and he claims that “without me, the pro-life movement would’ve just kept losing.”
We will see how President Trumps term will effect these next 4 years, the future of America, and the future of the world.
