January 20, 2025 3:18 pmAvian Flu Alert: Avoid Wild Birds in London, ON
The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) is urging residents to avoid touching wild birds after several tested positive for the H5NX Avian Flu. Three Canadian Geese found in London and Strathroy were recently confirmed to have the virus.
While bird-to-human transmission is rare, MLHU advises keeping your distance and ensuring pets do the same. Spot a dead bird? Report it to the Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative for testing.
MLHU won’t report every case but will update the public if health precautions change. Stay safe and keep clear of wild birds!
