- Western Fair comes to an end: After another successful year, the Western Fair will be coming to an end this weekend. If you still havent had the chance to attend, you will still be able to get tickets at the gate or you can order them online. Last day will be Sunday the 17th, and will end at 11pm. As always the fair will be returning next year.
- Terry Fox run coming up: The annual Terry Fox Run will be returning to Springbank Park this Sunday. 43 years ago, Terry Fox ran his Marathon of Hope to raise money for cancer. His plan was to walk across Canada. Starting in St. Johns Newfoundland, Fox made it all the way to Thunder Bay, Ontario before subduing to his cancer. Registration is in person at 8 am Sunday the 17th, at Springbank Gardens. All proceeds will go to the Terry Fox Foundation. Click here for more details.
- Comic Con return: Want an autograph from your favorite comic book actor? Or meet one of your favorite comic creators? Well London Comic Con is making a return this year. The likes of Brendan Wayne from the Mandelorian to the 1977 tv series “The Incredible Hulk” Lou Ferrigno, the event will be star filled with lots of interactive entertainment, photo ops and fan zones, it’ll be fun for all ages and fans. It will be held at the RBC Place in Downtown London from September, 16th and 17th. Click here for tickets.
- Homeless fundraising committee has been chosen: Former Police Chief and Canada Life President Jeff Macoun will be co-chair of the Health and Homeless Fund for Change alongside the $25 million anonymous donor. Macone and twelve other local leaders will be working on a plan to raise an additional $5 million. Anonymous donor promised to match every dollar raised, potentially taking the contribution to $35 million
- PM seeking grocery store price relief: Concluding his retreat in London on Thursday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau promised to speak with executives from major grocery stores to discuss a plan to relieve prices on groceries. Food prices have been at an all time high thanks to inflation. With Thanksgiving weekend coming up, Trudeau will be speaking with Loblaw, Metro, Empire, Walmart and Costco to figure out how to stabilize prices. Tax measures will be implemented if they cannot come up with a plan.
- Veltman trial continues: Now into day seven, 22-year old Nathaniel Veltman appearing today via video court. Forensic specialist Victor Poc of the London Police Service was called to the stand again. Poc ran through the four hour video of Veltman in the back of a police cruiser. Justice Renee Pomerances opened court by saying to the jury that any audio from the video would “bear no consequence” in trial. Veltman is accused of four counts of first degree murder, one count of attempted murder, and terrorism related charged after he allegedly ran over a Muslim family in June 2021 while they were going for a walk.
